​Sam Yan (สามย่าน) market is centrally located in Bangkok and surrounded by Chulalongkorn University. The whole area is a treasure chest spilling over with Thai street food. A real boon for visitors and locals alike.

The Sam Yan Market, which is both a wet market and a de facto student food court, offers great  authentic Thai street food.

Due to the construction and expansion of Chulalongkorn University, things around Sam Yan have been changing over the years, but it still remains a great place for food lovers.

How to get there: Sam Yan is located behind MBK shopping centre in Siam, but from there it’s easiest to take a tuk tuk or motorbike to get there. Otherwise, you can take the MRT underground to Sam Yan station.


Open hours: 8am-10pm

The morning market gets busy. Enjoy a wide variety of restaurants nearby which are open throughout the day.

MRT: Sam Yan Station is a Bangkok MRT rapid transit station on the Blue Line, located underground at the Sam Yan intersection on Rama IV Road near Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok.

The station is surrounded by a residential neighbourhood, shophouses and restaurants.


There is a food court on the second floor and most stalls sell western food as well as Thai favourites. One popular stall is Today Steak. This food court caters is very popular with students from Chulalongkorn University and office workers. You do not see many tourists here.

Established in 1965, this market moved to its current location when the old one was demolished in 2008 by the area’s owner, Chulalongkorn University.
