Assumption University, Thailand’s MSME Business School is collaborating with iStaging, a leading global visualization company to provide classroom content for event management and MICE students. “Students will learn about taking expos and trade shows from the physical show to the virtual world.” explains Dr Scott Smith, from the Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management.

Faced with the reality that travel bans and safety concerns due to the global COVID-19 pandemic have significantly impacted the exhibitions industry, Dr Scott worked with iStaging to enable them to provide students access to their cloud-based collaborative editing platform, Virtual Expo. “What would typically go into a traditional booth is now converted into an Exhibition Live Tour, which is a dynamic, living exhibition with a user experience closer to an in-person visit.” said Dr Scott.

Dr Scott explains, “Virtual showrooms and exhibitions offer an immersive experience for visitors and enrich their engagement with exhibitors, who benefit from savings on rental, booth design, and travel costs. While I will be very happy for things to return to the new normal, the After Covid Era is sure to include more hybrid events, allowing exhibitors and visitors to attend an exhibition without having to worry about health and safety, not to mention the convenience factors.”
